Introducing Laura Wetter

Laura’s studio has been at the Uptown Arts Center for almost 5 years

Laura Wetter was born in Great Falls, Montana and currently lives in Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Studio Art from Wheaton College, and has worked for several nonprofit organizations in Chicago.  More recently she has studied drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC)

She writes of her own work: ” In my perceptual paintings of domestic objects, tightly configured framings of intimate subjects push against edges and structures.  Folds in bed linens, towels and clothing take on figurative and topographical qualities.  I am interested in equity, vulnerability and visability.”
